Lead Flashings

Whilst on the roof JSJ Roofing will typically find several issues with lead flashings.

  1. Often we find several tears in the lead soaker flashings due to lead being installed in long lengths. When installed in long lengths the lead expands and contracts in various weather conditions which causes tears to develop. To avoid this lead flashings must not be installed in lengths over 1.5Lm including lap. To rectify JSJ Roofing replace these lead flashings with Wakaflex & a coloursteel compression trim. Wakaflex is a superior product compared to lead and is also available in various colours, along with being a cost effective solution.
  2. It’s common to find lead step flashings which are too small and provide insufficient cover over the tiles. When not large enough the flashings will leave the roof area vulnerable. In most cases JSJ Roofing can install a wakaflex soaker flashing under the lead step flashing to maximise cover over tiles.  In some cases where the lead step flashings are installed too low in the brickwork we have no option but to install wakaflex and compression trim.
